BMW Motorrad has released a teaser image of its first maxi-scooter for the Indian maxi-scooter featured in the image shared by BMW on social media appears to be the C 400 GT. It could be joined by the C 400 the C 400 GT and C 400 X use the same 350cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces BHP 7,500 rpm and 35 Nm 5,750 rpm. The engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission CVT.The C 400 range received a few updates in 2021. The scooters come with updated throttle-by-wire and engine management systems, a new exhaust and catalytic converter as well as improved brakes. Speaking of brakes, the scooters come equipped with twin rotors at the front and a single disc at the rear. The C 400 GT gets a revised automatic stability control as well. In Bikes, BMW Motorrad, International Bike News / / 20 August 2021 604 pm / 0 comments 2021 BMW Motorrad C400X Now made Euro 5 emissions compliant, the 2021 BMW Motorrad C400X and C400GT scooters have entered the Malaysia market. Pricing is set at RM44,500 for the C400X while the C400GT is tagged at RM48,500, with all prices listed as on-the-road without insurance. More improvements come in the form of ride-by-wire throttle, dubbed “E-gas” by BMW Motorrad, for idling stability, combined with a throttle valve bypass and turbulence system. Engine changes to meet emissions regulations include a modified catalytic convertor, wideband oxygen sensor, modifications to the cylinder head and adapted wiring harness. Revisions have also been made to the C400s centrifugal clutch to reduce clutch and improve response when the throttle is opened. A combination of increased spring force and slightly raised engine speed when the clutch re-engages, with tolerances reduced to compress the spread of engine speed, are responsible for the better performance. No changes in the power figures for the C400, the single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve, OHC mill putting out 34 hp at 7,500 rpm and 35 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The C400s Automatic Stability Control has also been revised to handle slippery road surfaces while the brake levers have now been calibrated to provide identical lever travel along with more feedback from the new twin front brake callipers. 2021 BMW Motorrad C400GT Now available as standard in BMW Connectivity which together with the BMW Connected app allows the rider to access functions on the C400. This includes arrow-based navigation and other functions with Keyless Ride being an added rider convenience. C’est ainsi qu’à partir d’un prix de base de 7965 €, le modĂšle essayĂ© ajoutait le pack confort » 485 €, pour avoir droit aux poignĂ©es et Ă  la selle chauffantes, l’alarme antivol 230 €, le magnifique Ă©cran TFT couleur connectĂ© 615 € et les feux diurnes Ă  LEDs 105 €. Nous voici donc avec une facture totale, Maryse, de 9400 €, soit un tarif proche de la catĂ©gorie supĂ©rieure. On se console avec le dĂ©marrage sans clĂ© ! Pourquoi ? Parce qu’il est gratuit, alors qu’il est en option 230 € sur le C 400 X. BMW C 400 GT ERGONOMIE On imagine le C 400 GT nettement plus volumineux et encombrant que le C 400 X. Ce n’est pas si vrai que cela car longueur 2210 mm et largeur 835 mm sont identiques. Les Ă©lĂ©ments de carrosserie plus volumineux sont toutefois responsables d’un poids en hausse de 8 kilos 212 contre 204. De mĂȘme, dans les deux cas, la selle est Ă  une hauteur raisonnable de 775 mm une selle basse de 760 mm est disponible en option, ce qui la rend accessible Ă  pas mal de monde, d’autant plus qu’elle est relativement fine en sa partie centrale, et que les espaces Ă  la base du carĂ©nage sont Ă©vidĂ©s pour que l’on puisse passer les pieds sans encombre. Les bĂ©quilles sont facilement accessibles et le montage sur la centrale ne demande pas les efforts d’un Musclor en devenir. Bref, avec ce C 400 GT comme bien d’autres de cette catĂ©gorie, on se dit qu’un scooter entre 300 et 400 cm3, c’est souvent un compromis idĂ©al dans la vraie vie. Et ce C 400 GT ne fait pas dĂ©mentir ce postulat. BMW C 400 GT INSTRUMENTATION - COMMANDES D’origine, le C 400 GT se contente du tableau de bord que l’on a aussi sur les scooters 650 un gros compteur Ă  gauche et un pavĂ© numĂ©rique monochrome Ă  droite. C’est bien, c’est complet. Mais c’est aussi so 2019 ! Pour vivre avec son temps, il est donc nĂ©cessaire de piocher dans la liste des options et de sĂ©lectionner l’écran TFT couleur connectĂ© pour la modique somme de 615 €. LĂ , un monde de modernitĂ© s’ouvre Ă  vous ordinateur de bord complet, mode urbain » simple et funky et surtout, trĂšs lisible, tĂ©lĂ©phonie, musique, GPS via une App externe, tout est Ă©vidence et Ă©videmment beau. Cerise sur le gĂąteau, cela se contrĂŽle facilement via la molette multicontrĂŽleur » sise au commodo gauche. En rĂ©alitĂ©, il n’en est rien dans les deux cas, on se faufile entre les files avec une grande facilitĂ© et lĂ  encore, dans le cadre d’un usage quotidien, il ne faut pas longtemps pour se persuader qu’on a lĂ  la formule idĂ©ale. Plus petite que mon collĂšgue Philippe, je suis mieux protĂ©gĂ©e, le pare-brise prĂ©serve parfaitement le casque et le buste, et le tablier le haut des jambes moins les pieds et les mollets. En ville c’est un rĂ©gal. La bĂ©quille de la centrale est trĂšs facile, en revanche dĂ©brouiller demande un peu plus d’efforts. Sur voie rapide aux vitesses lĂ©gales, j’ai pu ressentir quelques remous Ă  cause du top-case de ce modĂšle d'essai, mais rien de terrible. Enfin, on aurait peut-ĂȘtre davantage apprĂ©ciĂ© le confort des bons amortisseurs avec une selle un peu plus moelleuse, et la contenance du coffre mĂ©riterait plus de volume. J’ai par ailleurs pu tester la connectivitĂ© de l’écran TFT. Une fois votre smartphone, puis l’intercom de votre casque et Ă©ventuellement celui de votre passager appairĂ©s au systĂšme du scooter cela parait un peu compliquĂ© les premiĂšres fois, mais on s’y fait, il est possible d’utiliser la fonction tĂ©lĂ©phone » et d’écouter votre musique via le scooter en utilisant la molette Ă  main gauche. En tĂ©lĂ©chargeant l’application BMW Connected Motorrad cartes Ă  tĂ©lĂ©charger, vous avez accĂšs, sur l’écran TFT, Ă  une navigation turn by turn » comme sur le Peugeot Pulsion ou la Harley Livewire. C’est dans l’appli que tout se passe destination, infos trajets etc.. Tout fonctionne parfaitement, le seul truc c’est que cela demande un peu de temps d’apprendre le manuel d’utilisateur

Of course, maxi-scooters are a bit of a love em or hate em affair, some will absolutely love the versatility and dynamic riding offered by a larger scooter like this - whilst others won’t be able to look past the style. Either way, both models will be receiving quite a raft of updates for 2021, with E-gas’, a new engine management system and optimised centrifugal clutch bringing Euro 5 refinements to the 350cc single-cylinder motor, despite still providing 34 bhp and 35Nm of torque with peak torque available 250 revs lower. Euro-5 updates for BMW scooters C400X & C400GTE-gas’ isn’t some form of electronic fuel, by the way, it’s actually an electronic throttle grip with partnering electronically operated throttle valve like a ride-by-wire system, and paired with the CVT transmission and centrifugal clutch will overall promise a much smoother ride, with far greater stability particularly when idling. The brakes have had a look in on the new parts for this year, with new front calipers to offer a clearly defined pressure point’, along with aligned brake lever travels for a symmetrical braking feel. Earlier this year, Yamaha unveiled the 20th Anniversary edition of their biggest, baddest maxi-scoot, the TMAX. This time around, BMW is revamping their range of entry-level maxi-scoots in the form of the C 400 GT and C 400 X. Initially launched in 2018, the BMW C 400 X was designed as an urban scooter capable of light off-road riding. Bearing subtle styling cues from the GS line of adventure bikes, the C 400 X continues to be a burly and muscular option in the entry-level maxi-scoot segment. On the other hand, the C 400 GT was designed as a more refined, touring option, boasting streamlined styling and loads of premium features. For the 2021 model year, BMW has rolled out a few notable updates on the duo of maxi-scoots.
